Notes: Johnathan Bachman Morelock born to George Washington Morelock and Elizabeth Bachman in 1804 left his home in Green County Tennessee on the way to his sisters house Polly and Elizabeth Humbert in 1821 that lived in Mo. One of his horses got sick and he camped out at the Read meeting/boarding house in what was then Grainger County.The property had the very first Methodist church thatwas built and it also was used as a school durring the week.This is now the Morelock family cemetery.Johnathan became great friends with Thomas Read and we understand struck a deal to stay in Tennessee after the death of one of his horses. He came in a covered wagon with all of his goods.In 1823 he married Amey Emiline Bowman, born also in 1804 by Rev.H.W. Taylor. He and his wife Alice Taylor are in the Morelock cemetery. He was responsible for baptising over 1400 people during his leadership.Johnathan and Amey went on to give life to 18 children on the 188 acres that he purchased from Thomas Read. Jonathan married Amey Emeline Bowman on 6 Nov 1823 in , Greene, Tennessee, USA.
