- James C. Harmon, 68, of Paxton, formerly of Henry, died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his residence in Paxton.
James was born on Oct. 6, 1945, in Kewanee, Ill., to Clifford and Mabel (Grubb) Harmon. He married Edwina "Kay" Harmon on Jan. 31, 1965, in Peoria, Ill. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2011.
Surviving are his two sons, James E. (Michelle) Harmon of Paxton and Cheynen Harmon of Peoria; three grandchildren, Katy Jo, Michael and Jacob Harmon; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Mary (Larry) Hoffman of Princeville, Margaret (Dennis) Barr of Duncan Mills and Martha Fitch of Lewistown.
His parents preceded him in death.
James was employed at the Caterpillar Tractor Company Mossville plant for 31 years as an inspector.
He was a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoyed horseshoe pitching, NASCAR and most of all, his grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, "Downtown Chapel," 416 Edward St., Henry, Ill. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Tom Schrock will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Henry Cemetery in Henry.
