COBER, Alvin Leroy - Went to meet his Lord and Creator from his home on Monday, July 23, 2007. He was in his 81st year. Left to mourn is Jean, his beloved wife and best friend of 58 years. Also survived by his children, Garry and his wife Leslie, Judith and Bill Hall, Mark and Marie, Janice Shantz and her husband Darrell; ten grandchildren, Jeanette, Karen, Jonathan, Sarah and Matt, David, Rachel, Jasmine, Kenton, Renee and Wendy; also four great-grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Leoda Bradnam and his sister-in-law, Virginia Cober. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Frances and Harvey and brother, Myron. Alvin was a faithful member of the Grace Mennonite Church of New Hamburg, and will be missed by his many friends. He volunteered his services to The Gospel Echoes Prison Ministries for many years. His cheerful attitude and ready smile was appreciated by all those with whom he worked and met in his daily life. Alvin's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467 and will continue on Friday, July 27, 2007 at Countryside Mennonite Fellowship Church from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2007 at Countryside Mennonite Fellowship Church, 3745 Herrgott Rd., Hawksville. Bishop Howard Bean and Pastor Earl Koch will officiate. Interment will take place in the Rosebank Cemetery, Huron Rd, at 4:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Gospel Echoes Prison Ministry or the Gideon (Bible) International would be greatly appreciated by the family, cards are available through the funeral home, 519-749-8467.
