Description: Located at the northeast corner of 92nd Street and Kalamazoo Street. There is a paved drive which runs in a semi-circle from 92nd Street to Kalamazoo. There is a sign with cemetery rules posted. There are approximately 200-300 graves in this pretty, hillside cemetery. It is nice and shady in places with large maple trees. The cemetery is bordered on the north by a ramshackle, barbed wire fence in a woodsy brush area with a swamp beyond, and on the east by a fence row of trees and a farmer's field. Across 92nd on the southeast corner of the intersection is Gaines United Brethren Church. The cemetery was recently mowed, and there were huge patches of creeping phlox blooming, which were very pretty. The oldest stone seen was 1867, and I couldn't tell if the cemetery was still active, but there wasn't much room for any new tombstones if so. Several gravestones were broken and in urgent need of repair. There were some broken stones laying down into the ground, and there appeared to be unmarked graves. There were many stones with the surname Hanna and Krumback. (S.M.G. Davis, May 2000)
