Clemens' Family Migrations

George B. Clemens Migrates to Chester County, Pennsylvania

As a young man, George B. Clemens' father paid him his portion of his legacy and he moved from Montgomery County to Chester County, Pennsylvania. He invested in real estate in both Pikeland and Charlestown Townships. In 1760, 1761 he erected a grist mill where he made a fortune. By 1780, his real and personal estate was valued for taxes at £5950.

In 1778 he married Elizabeth Carlisle, well educated and of Quaker descent. They had two known sons, Abraham and George.
