Breslau Mennonite (Cressman) Cemetery, Breslau, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Notes: The Breslau Mennonite Cemetery (formerly called the Cressman Mennonite Cemetery) was deeded to the Mennonite church by Christian C.Snyder on July 26,1837. The first property, sold to Church Trustees, Abram S.Clemens, Elias Bowman, and John Brech for a price of one pound, was "kept for the sole and only proper use (for a Meeting House, School House and burying ground for the Menonist and Tunker congregations)." This first purchase was about one acre in size and was part of Lot #115 in the Township of Waterloo, County of Halton, Province of Upper Canada. A further half acre of land was deeded to Abram S.Clemens, John Weber and Aaron Zehner by Christian C.Snyder in December of 1858 for a sum of five pounds. A final parcel of land consisting of about two and a quarter acres was deeded to Abram Clemmer, John Weber and Christian C.Snyder for a sum of $26.62½ in November, 1870. The total property presently owned by the Church is about three acres.

The earliest burials in the cemetery were those of a father and son, Jacob and David Sherk, buried in August of 1834. Although most of the burials have been of Mennonite people, the community also used this cemetery for a burial ground. Several early ministers and Bishops are buried here.
