Frey. - Lydia Weber was born near Breslau, Ont., Oct. 24, 1866; passed away at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton, Alta., Aug. 22, 1949; aged 82 y. 9 m. 28 d. In her youth she became a member of the Mennonite Church, to which she was faithful until death. In 1888 she was united in marriage to David Reist, who predeceased her in 1889. In 1902 she was united in marriage to David [Daniel ?] Frey. In 1903 they moved to Alberta and made their home in the Carstairs district. After the death of her husband in 1918 she lived and worked with different families in the district. The last year she made her home with her son, Howard, in Edmonton. Surviving are 2 sons (Nelson, Carstairs, Alta.; Howard, Edmonton, Alta.), one stepson (Clarence, Vancouver, B.C.), 3 stepdaughters (Lavina - Mrs. Wesley Hallman, Vancouver, B.C.; Almeda - Mrs. Nelson Reist, Carstairs, Alta.; and Seleda - Mrs. L. Lavik, Oliver, B.C.), 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one brother (Amos Weber, Didsbury, Alta.), 2 sisters (Mrs. Nancy Sheidel, Kitchener, Ont.; and Mrs. Mary Buschert, Carstairs). Funeral services were held at the West Zion Church near Carstairs on Aug. 26, with Linford Hackman and Henry Harder in charge. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
